In Peru, Police Now Fired For Involvement In Bribery, Abuse Or Scandalous Gay Sex

In 2004, Peru’s Supreme Court overturned a ban on homosexuality in the police and military, but now expulsion is required for those who engage in “sexual relations with people of the same sex that cause a scandal or damage the image of the institution.” The new law also mandates expulsion for taking bribes or abusing detainees, but not heterosexual adultery.
