Argentina is having a surge in organ trafficking. Maria Teresa, single mother or three, is one of them:

“My economic situations is very delicate and I’m afraid I might end up on the street. Not because of me, but because of my three daughters. That’s why I’m willing to exchange my kidney for a house.”

In Argentina, organ transplants are only allowed if the donor and the recipient are related or if allowed by the government. Everything else is illegal and can fetch you up to six years in prison.
