An anti Hugo Chavez rally of thousands in Caracas was violently dispersed by Venezuelan police. According to National Guard General, Alirio Ramirez, the marchers had not obtained permission to march into the city center so police were sent out to disperse the crowd. The day ended with violence as protesters threw bottles and police retaliated with tear gas and water cannons.
