The California Supreme Court voted to uphold a voter-approved ban on gay marriage. However, they also decided that the 18,000+ that tied the knot before would stay wed.

In East Los Angeles gay marriage supporters said they were not surprised at all:

“I think the consensus was they would uphold Prop. 8 and let the 18,000 marriages stand,” said Daniel Solis, 26, of Eagle Rock.

It’s amazing that a state like Iowa would legalize gay marriage before hippie central California. Is California less liberal that what it’s residents make it out to be? Cali, you got San Francisco up in there, what’s going on?
