Romeo & Juliet With A Mexican-American Flavor Staged In Austin, Texas

Looks like Zoot Suit meets Shakespeare in this multi-culti cast version of the romance classic. The below pic, taken from the website, is titled, “Tybalt and Mercutio — in 1940s Texas.” And the description reads like so, ”Set in Central Texas in the 1940’s, this production boasts a Central Texas setting with a Mexican-American flavor. For the 24th year, Austin Shakespeare brings FREE Shakespeare to Zilker Park. From May 7 to June 7 we present Shakespeare’s most popular play with a new twist: Romeo & Juliet features Shakespeare’s own text, including some Spanish language!”

A boy like that he killed your brother
Forget that boy and find another
One of your own kind, stick to your own kind
“Jesus Christo Superestrella” was actually pretty fun (one of the actors is mentioned as having been in that one on the website).
