Ed Whitacre General Motors GM Chairman

According to interim Chariman Kent Kresa, GM Corp. has named Ed. Whitacre Jr., former chairman and CEO of AT&T Inc., the new chairman of the U.S. automaker once it completes its bankruptcy reorganization. Kresa will continue to serve as interim chairman until Whitacre takes the helm.

“I am honored to be able to serve GM at this critical juncture and take part in its reinvention,” said Whitacre.

“Goodluck Ed, you’re gonna need it,” said Marcelo.
