The day President Obama announced his selection of Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court Justice, a Quinnipiac University national poll has surveyed public attitudes toward the choice.

The survey of more than 3,000 voters –- more than twice the size of most national surveys -–allows for analysis of her support. She gets 49%-29% among whites, 85%-2% among blacks and 58%-24% among Hispanics.

I find this curious in all sorts of ways. Anyone care to venture an explanation?
