Desis holla! The Dehli High Court today overturned an archaic colonial law defining homosexuality as an unnatural offense punishable by ten years in prison, calling the 138 year old statute the “antithesis of the right to equality”. The usual suspects in the Catholic and Muslim community are up in arms, of course, and hearts and minds and court challenges will still have to be won, but at least for now the estimated 8% of HIV-positive gay Indians can, y’know, go to the doctor without fear of being thrown in prison.
