Ballantine Books announced Tuesday it will publish a memoir by the first lady of South Carolina next May. The former investment banker and mother of four will grapple in the book with “the universal issue of maintaining integrity and a sense of self during life’s difficult times,” according to the publishing house — so yes, all the fallout from Gov. Mark Sanford’s Appalachian-trail-no-wait-I-mean-Argentinian-mistress meltdown.

I would like to show others how important it is to stand firm on one’s principles, stay true to oneself, and respond with grace and honesty to whatever hurdles may come.”
