I agree completely with the guest above. As a Cuban-American I am convinced that it is high time that the embargo be lifted. I think it is shameful that we have Congress people in Washington still arguing in favor of the embargo. The concept has not made a dent in the last 47 years, I don't think it will make a dent now. Maybe we should try something different. Lift the embargo, let international stars perform, let all American citizens visit the island, and finally the Cuban people will decide their fate. After having said all that, I don't think that Ms. Tañon should now become the embassador for Cubans in the island. I don't think it very fair that she make an educated decision about how people live in Cuba after spending a whole 48 hours in the island. The "old timers" Cuban Exlies should also be careful. They have not been able to produce a change in Cuba after having been in exile 30, 40 and 50 years. Therefore, it is only wise that they keep their mouth shut and let the new generation try it their way. They certainly did not stay in the island to fight against the regimen. They left the Country as soon as they could, but they expect the Colombian (Juanes) to go to the island and chant "liberty, freedom for political prisioners, freedom of expression, etc." Is that fair? Why did they not do it and chose the path of exile instead. It is very comfortable to scream and shout in 8 Street, but they certainly did not have the courage that Juanes exhibited.

Cuba still lives under a dictatorial, repressive regime, but that makes it even more important for the Cuban people to enjoy a musical feast provided by international stars. If anything, this concert provided a look into what they could be enjoying normally if they had a good economy and the freedom those stars enjoy outside the island, specially Juanes and Olga Tanon who live in the US. The embargo has to be stopped, so the Castros don't have any more excuses for the disaster they have caused since 1959. The US is doing business with China and Vietnam, communist countries, and with Saudi Arabia, another dictatorship. The only difference is the political pressure from the Old Cubans in Miami, which is fading out rapidly with the new generation.

i feel theres nothing wrong with olga and juanes going to give concert in cuba.whats really happenning here are the cuban people feel hate and envy because they cant go to cuba . there only thinking about themselves. its not politics, its giving the people from cuba a smile a happy day . whats wrong with that?why woulnt they be happy that theres relatives can enjoy this concert?so they talk how bad fidel is but they want to stop everybody else from doing something good . they even threaten juanes. so its that different from fidel? mo ,so 2 wrongs dont make it right.somebody has to make a difference .and like olga said you never know if this concert may open new doors. i hope the cuban people have a wonderful time, they been through alot God bless cuba.
