Will anyone on Broadway or in Hollywood write an original story ever again? Variety reports that Salma Hayek, Jessica Biel, Brazilian opera singer Paulo Szot and Glee’s Mathew Morrison have all read for the Broadway production of Pedro Almodovar’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown which is possibly going to open next Spring. No one has signed yet, but we’re sure everyone will kill themselves to get in on this show. After all, it’s already a classic film and therefore no risk whatsoever. The musical is being penned by composer-lyricist David Yazbek and book writer Jeffrey Lane, who collaborated on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels–another Hollywood remake. Bartlett Sher, who directed South Pacific, (the most recent time it was on Broadway), and is working with Yazbek on another musical called, Bruce Lee: Journey to the West–oh, my–is directing.
