New York Yankees Fans Celebrate At Times Square, Think They Won The World Cup

Fans of the New York Yankees took over Times Square last night to celebrate the 27th World Series victory, their first since the 2000 season. The New York Post was at hand to shoot video of the celebration, and we were surprised to hear the ever familiar chant of “olé, olé, olé!” usually reserved for soccer matches. Could it be that the popularity of soccer in the United States is rising, or should we just assume that the majority of people partaking in last night’s festivities were Hispanic? You decide. I don’t know about up there, but my grandBoss (boss’s boss) is a Puerto Rican who was raised in NY from age 5 on, and he said he went insane last night with the win. Then he once again reminded me that my team hasn’t won a WS in over 100 years.
You’re a Cubs fan, too? I feel you brother. Not fun to root for the lovable losers.
My condolences to both of you. You know you can just close your eyes and just replace the Derek Jeter chants with Derek Lee if that makes you feel better.
